Nearly 30 lakh vaccinated

A total of 133,833 people were vaccinated on the 17th day of countrywide inoculation campaign against Covid-19 yesterday.
With this, the total number of people vaccinated has reached 29,84,773, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services.
The countrywide mass inoculation campaign started on February 7.
Meanwhile, five more people died from novel coronavirus in 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday, said another press release from the DGHS.
With the latest fatalities, the total number of deaths has reached 8,400. The death rate was 1.54 percent.
At least 407 new infections were recorded in the same 24-hour period, taking the total number of infected people in the country to 545,831.
Against a total of 12,348 tests in those 24 hours, the positivity rate was 3.30 percent. The figure was little higher than the previous day's 3.13 percent.
The overall positivity rate now stands at 13.54 percent.
At least 609 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the same 24-hour period. The total number of recoveries now stands at 496,107 and the recovery rate is 90.89 percent.
Among the five deceased, four were males. One of the dead was aged between 21 and 30 years, one between 41 and 50, and three were above 60 years, said the DGHS release.
As of 5:30pm yesterday, a total 4203,835 people have registered to get vaccine shots.
