Mobilise resources for self-sufficiency in food

BANGABANDHU REVIEWS AGRICULTURE PROGRAMME
Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today presides over a high-level conference at the Gono Bhaban which reviews the entire programme for agriculture during 1972-73. The prime minister issues directives that all bottlenecks in procurements and distribution of agricultural inputs must be removed so that the agriculture programme could be fully implemented. He asks all agencies concerned to gear up their activities so that the farmers get credit in time.
Bangabandhu emphasises that the programme must be made a total success as a step towards achieving the ultimate objective of self-sufficiency in food. He says all resources must be mobilised and bottlenecks removed. Special emphasis is given on winter cultivation so that loss of crops due to floods could be compensated for by increasing winter crops. Prospects of aman crops and boro cultivation are reviewed.
FAZLUL QUADER INDICTED
The Superintendent of Police of Chittagong has submitted a charge sheet against Fazlul Quader Chowdhury, president of the disbanded Muslim League (Convention), on charges of murder, arson, collaboration with Pakistani Army and resisting the liberation struggle. Fazlul Quader Chowdhury, who was arrested from Chittagong immediately after the liberation of the country, will be produced in the court for trial. He is at present in the Dhaka Central Jail.
FAIR PRICE SHOPS OPEN TODAY
The fair price shops would start functioning throughout the country from today, with one in each union of the country. Dhaka will have 30 fair price shops at union levels while Narayanganj will have 15 shops. Each shop will cover 1000 card-holders. Following items will be available at the fair price shops at Dhaka and Narayanganj: kerosene, washing soap, soda, baby food, lungi and saree. At union levels a master roll will be prepared to entitle the people to buy things from the fair price shops.
