Two Chhatra League leaders were sued under the Digital Security Act in Narayanganj for spreading "false information and rumour" on Facebook about Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi.

They are Ashfaqul Islam Tusher, vice president of Kayetpara union BCL unit, and its organising secretary Ashraful Alam Jemin.

Mozammel Haque, manager (administration) of Gazi Group,filed the case with Rupganj Police Station on Tuesday night.

Dastagir is the founder and chairman of Gazi Group.

Citing from the case statement, Mohsinul Quadir, officer-in-charge of the station, said false information and a fabricated photo claiming to be of the proposed plot for Gazi Cricket Academy were posted from Ashraful's Facebook ID. Tusher then shared the post on Facebook.

Aggrieved by the Facebook post, the Gazi Group manager filed the case, the OC mentioned.

"We are verifying whether the Facebook ID in question actually belongs to Ashraful. A drive is going on to arrest the accused," he added.
