11 more die, 606 get Covid-19

Eleven people have died from Covid-19 in the 24 hours till 8:00am yesterday and at least 606 new infections were recorded in that period. 

The total number of deaths has now reached 8,462 and the death rate stands at 1.54 percent, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The 606 new infections took the total number of people infected to 5,50,330, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 4.3 percent, up from 4.13 percent the previous day. The total positivity rate in the country stands at 13.27 percent. 

A total of 14,092 samples were tested across the country in the 24 hours.

At least 1,037 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stand at 5,03,003 and the recovery rate at 91.40 percent.

Among the deceased, nine were male and two were female. One was between 31 and 40 years old, one between 41 and 50, two were between 51 and 60, and seven were above 60 years old, added the release.
