MP Manzurul Murder: Kader Khan, seven others indicted

A Gaibandha court yesterday framed charges against eight people, including prime accused Col (retd) Abdul Kader Khan, in Gaibandha-1 lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton murder case.

The court of District and Sessions Judge Rasheda Begum framed the charges in the presence of seven accused.

Shafiqul Islam Shafiq, public prosecutor, said being jealous, Kader, former Jatiya Party lawmaker, hired killers to kill ruling Awami League lawmaker Manzurul. The killers shot him dead in his Masterpara home in Sundarganj upazila town on December 31, 2016.

Manzurul's younger sister Fahmida Bulbul Kakoli filed a case with Sundarganj Police Station the next day.

Police submitted the charge sheet of the murder case against the eight, including Kader, on April 30 last year. 

The other accused are: Anwarul Islam alias Rana, Shaheen Mia Santo, Rashedul Hasan Mehdi, Kader's personal secretary Shamsuzzoha Sarker, former office secretary of Sundarganj upazila unit AL Chandon Kumar Roy, Subol Kumar Roy and Kader's driver Abdul Hannan.

Police arrested Kader and six other accused, while Chandon went into hiding soon after Manzurul had been killed.

All the seven accused, including Kader, confessed to their involvement in the murder before magistrates under Section 164.

On February 21 last year, Kader was arrested in his Bogra home at Rahman Nagar in connection with Manzurul murder case.

In the charge sheet, it was mentioned that Kader had been planning for killing Manzurul since 2014.
