Mother, daughter detained 11 years after 'abduction'

Police yesterday detained a mother and her daughter, who were allegedly abducted 11 years ago, in Isagura village of Barisal Sadar upazila. 

A team of Criminal Investigation Department conducted a drive in the village and detained Josna Begum and her SSC examinee daughter Ziba Moni.

Meanwhile, Josna's husband Ahmad Ullah Munshi and his brother Shahid Munshi, who were accused in an abduction case, went missing from their village home in the same upazila after the filing of the case, said locals.    

Md Fariduzzaman, inspector of Barisal CID, said Josna's brother Sarwar Hossain filed the abduction case with Kotwali Model Police Station against Ahmad and Shahid.

Mahabubur Rahman, sub-inspector of the police station, submitted the final report to the court accusing the two in the case.

On January 1, the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Barisal ordered the CID to investigate the case.

Following the court order, the CID team conducted the raid and detained the mother and her daughter yesterday.c
