Lord Carlile contradicts law minister

British lawyer Lord Carlile in a letter to The Daily Star has said he had never provided legal aid or any professional legal service to any Jamaat leaders or members.

His statement came after this newspaper in a report on Monday published a comment by Law Minister Anisul Huq on legal counsel of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Referring to Lord Carlile, Huq said: “He [Carlile] had provided legal aid to Jamaat leaders. It is sad that they have appointed such a person as her lawyer.”
