Brindaban College: Ten hurt in BCL infighting

At least 10 students were injured in a clash between two factions of Chhatra League over establishing supremacy at Brindaban Government College in the district town yesterday.

Witnesses said two groups of BCL men attacked each other with sticks and stones on the college campus around 1:30pm.

Police later reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The injured were sent to Habiganj Sadar Modern Hospital.

Principal Ilias Hossain of the college said he was unaware of the reason why the clash occurred.

A sense of fear was prevailing among teachers and students on the campus following the incident, he said.

Meanwhile, Habiganj BCL President Saidur Rahman claimed that some newly admitted students clashed on the campus and no BCL men was involved in the incident.

Yasinul Haque, officer-in-charge of Habiganj Sadar Police Station, said BCL men clashed to establish supremacy on the campus.
