37 BNP men charged with murder
Detectives pressed charges against 37 BNP men, including party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a case filed in connection with killing a person at capital's Malibagh during the party-enforced countrywide blockade on November 30, 2013.
Depak Kumar Das, a sub-inspector of the Detective Branch of police and also investigation officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet before the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrates in Dhaka yesterday.
The accused include BNP standing committee members Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Mirza Abbas and Joint Secretary General Aman Ullah Aman.
The court fixed September 6 for hearing whether it would accept the charge sheet.
On November 30, pro-blockade activists hurled a petrol bomb at a bus in Malibagh area around 7:30pm during a blockade enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance. Losing control, the bus crushed Habibur Rahman, to death and injured a rickshaw-puller. Two passengers suffered burn injuries in the attack.a
