“Mrittu Pakhi” staged at JU
Jahangirnagar University (JU) was abuzz with the footsteps of the theatre enthusiasts on Thursday as Uttaradhikar, a theatre troupe from Chittagong, staged the play "Mrittu Pakhi" at the Selim Al Deen Muktamancha on the sixth day of the weeklong theatre festival.

Marking the celebration of Independence and National Day 2017, the JU Teachers-Students Centre (TSC) organised the festival titled "Mukti Sangram Natya Utshab-2017" from March on 25-31 to focus on the rich culture, heritage, and heroic history of Bangladesh as well as branding its own culture at home and abroad.
The play portrays the brutality of Pakistani occupation forces and their local collaborators during the Liberation War in 1971. It also showed how the anti-liberation forces gained ground in independent Bangladesh.
Written by Tanvir Ahmed Sidney the play has been directed Moslem Uddin Sikder.
Stage designer of the play was Ali Ahmed Mukul; music director was Mainuddin Kohel; choreographer was Proma Abonti and music director was Sanjit Roy. The cast included Asit Das Pulak, Jahedul Alam, Rajiul Hasan, Majharul Alam Titumir, Mahmud Russel, Gias Uddin, Kankan Das, Bitu Bhowmik and Abhijit Sengupta.
A total of 54 distinguished personalities were honored and six plays were staged at the Selim Al Deen Muktamancha throughout the festival.
The programme featured tree plantation, photo and painting exhibitions, theatre festival, presentations on history, a musical evening, discussions and recitation.
