“Golpo Niye Golpo” and “Amrita Upakkhyan” at BSA
Dhaka Theatre will stage its popular productions "Golpo Niye Golpo" and "Amrita Upakkhyan" at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy today at 7pm.
Both plays are penned by Natyacharya Selim Al Deen, while the first is directed by Esha Yousuff, and the second by Wasim Ahmed and Sazzad Razib.
"Golpo Niye Golpo" encircles love, failure, brutality and frustration of human lives. It starts with a conversation between the narrator and his friend, and gradually unfolds another story. Shahzada Samrat, Rafikul Islam, Tariqul Islam Liton and others portray different roles in the play.
On the other hand, "Amrita Upakkhyan" is based on the first novel by Selim Al Deen. The novel has not been adapted for stage, instead it has been put to stage without modification. It boasts both Dhaka Theatre's own narrative style combined with this region's traditional theatrical language.
The play casts Shimul Yousuff, Mohammad Shahriar Akhtar, Asaduzzaman Aman, Tahmida Mahmud and others.
