Nurjahan Alim performs at IGCC
Indira Gandhi Culture Centre organised a musical evening of folk songs by Nurjahan Alim Tuni, on Thursday, August 6 at the IGCC Gulshan-1 premises. Artiste Shajed Fatemi also performed with her at the event.
The duo began their set with “Babu Selam Bare Bar”, and went on to sing popular numbers like “Naiyare Nayer Badam Tuila”, “Premer Mora Jole Dobe Na”, “Majhi Baiya Jao Re”, “Premer Mora jole Dobe Na”, “Ei Je Duniya” and “Sob Sohki Re Par Korite”, among others.
Born in Dhaka, Nurjahan Alim Tuni initially got her inspiration in music from her father, renowned folk maestro Abdul Alim. Nurjahan's musical career took off after her superb performance in 'Notun Kuri', broadcast on Bangladesh television. Ever since, she has regularly performed on stage and the small screen. She has released a solo album titled “Majhi' in 2014, and is working on her next album, “A Tribute to Abdul Alim”.
