Chittagonian songs enthrall port city audience
The local Chittagonian-dialect songs enthralled over a thousand audiences in the port city on Thursday night.
Popular local song singers Kollani Ghosh, Sanjit Acharya, Prem Sundar Boisnab (son of local legend Sham Sundar Boisnab) enthralled the audience with the famous songs – “Are Bole Chaitu Aybu Noakhaille Jamai”, “Noyone Noyone Rakibo”, “Chiti Dilam Potro Dilam, No Ayela Killai”, “O Banu”, “MoheshKhali-Banskhali”— some of the best collection of local chatgaya songs.
The cultural programme was organised in an open stage from 7-9pm. at the Port Stadium on Thursday to celebrate the inauguration of World Trade Centre and celebrate the centenary of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Earlier in the evening from 6-7pm an open field presentation one the history of Chittagong, titled “History and Heritage of Chittagong in Light and Sound” enchanted the audience. The presentation visualized the advent of Arab traders, Dutch, Portuguese and English in the area by large ships. Besides, the history of Liberation War was also narrated with eye catching fire works in the sky.
The chief guest at the programme, state minister for Land ministry Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said Chittagong has a history and tradition of over a thousand year. This type of creative programme would promote the unique history and tradition of Chittagong as well as the country.
