We should share iftar with a stranger everyday: Bijori
Seasoned actress Bijori Barkatullah enjoys iftar with her family. She tries to spend the Ramadan with her family and when there's no shooting, she prepares iftar for them. She spoke with Arts & Entertainment about her iftar menu, favourite dishes, Eid shopping and more. Her views:
What's your favourite ifftar menu?
Bijori: I love fruit chaat, fresh juice, doi bora, halim and other traditional dishes. I also love deep-fried items though they should be avoided.
Where do you usually have your iftar?
Bijori: When I am home, I prepare my iftar and when I am shooting I break my fast on the set. Sometimes, I go out with my family for iftar. It feels great to have iftar with them. However, I believe we should share iftar with a stranger every day.
Do you go out for sehri?
Bijori: I used to go out for sehri in Old Dhaka long before it turned into a trend. Over the last three years, it has become sort of 'fashionable' to go out for sehri. I think we should focus on the religious and spiritual aspects of Ramadan instead of showing off.
Any sweet Ramadan memories?
Bijori: I have many fond memories. When I was a kid, my elders used to say that I could fast two or three times a day, and I'd believe them. Also my family members used to wake me up for sehri every night.
Where do you usually spend your Eid?
Bijori: Since all my family members live in Dhaka, I spend Eid here with them.
Where do you get your Eid shopping done?
Bijori: I do my Eid shopping in Dhaka.
