Oggatonama to release in Bangladesh
On August 19 Tauquir Ahmed's “Oggatonama,” or “The Unnamed”, will be screened in theatres, according to a press release. The director's fourth film, also scripted by him, has already been screened at Cannes Film Festival and won the Jury Mention Award at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival in Italy. Produced by Impress Telefilm Limited, the premiere was held across Bangladesh yesterday on August 16 at Dhaka's Bashundhara City's Star Cineplex, Jamuna Blockbuster Cinemas, Shyamoli, Ananada; Purobi, Mymensingh; Monihar, Jessore; and Madhobi, Madhupur.
Cast members include Mosharrof Karim, Nipun, Abul Hayat, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Shahed Sharif Khan, Shatabdi Wadud, Shahed Ali Shujon, Momena Chowdhury and many others. The narrative revolves around the dilemmas of working class Bangladeshis traveling abroad in search of a better life, and exposes the corruption of various agencies that create illegal pathways, such as forged passports and fake identification.
