“Blackbird's Eye: Bangladesh & Beyond” at Drik

Photographer and Bangladesh Air Force pilot Shamim Shorif Susom's first solo photography exhibition “Blackbird's Eye: Bangladesh & Beyond” will begin today at Drik Gallery in the capital's Dhanmondi.
The inauguration ceremony will take place at 3pm. Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, the Chief of Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force along with his wife will inaugurate the exhibition. In addition, photographers Latif Hossain, Sayeed Siddiqui, and noted sculptor Ferdousi Priyabhashini will attend the inauguration ceremony among others.
Being an air force pilot, Susom has seen the country from a different perspective. His exhibition depicts the beauty of Bangladesh from above where the normal eye cannot reach.
The exhibit will feature flowing rivers and lush countryside of Bangladesh captured from above.
In addition, there will also be travel photographs and portraits from his travels to Europe, West Africa and South Asia.
Shamim Shorif Susom is a known name in the country's photography arena.
He is involved with photography for a long time, and has participated in 19 exhibitions in home and abroad so far.
He is an organiser of photography group Grasshoppers.
The exhibit will run till May 7 everyday from 3pm to 8pm at Drik.
Acclaimed fashion photographer Zia Uddin has curated the exhibit.
