USHERING IN MONSOON
To usher in the season of monsoon, cultural organisation Satyen Sen Shilpi Goshthi (SSSG) organised Borsha Utsab 1424 yesterday at Bokultola, Faculty of Fine Art (FFA), University of Dhaka.
The programme started at 7 in the morning. With a choral rendition of Nazrul song “Megher Domru Bajey”, artistes of Bonhishikha welcomed the season of rain. Artistes of Ponchobhashkar and SSSG presented choral Tagore songs “Rimjhim Ghono Ghono Rey” and “Esho Shyamalo Sunduro” respectively. The programme also included performance of solo songs, group dances, poetry recitation and discussion.
Dancers of Nrityajan, Nrityaksha, Nrityamoncho, Bulbul Lalitakala Academy and Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts performed group dances set on the songs “Mon Mor Megher Shongi”, “Rimjhim Ghono Deya Boroshey”, “Pata Jhora Brishti Bon-e”, “Churir Taal-e Thoi Thoi” and Pagla Hawar Badol Din-e” respectively.
Prominent and promising singers Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury Moyna, Shama Rahman, Abu Bokor Siddique, Mamun Zahid Khan, Sanjoy Kabiraj and others rendered monsoon melodies at the programme. Rafiqul Islam, Shimul Mustapha, Maskur-e Sattar Kallol and others recited poems.
The programme also included a discussion. Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, vice chancellor of University of Dhaka, Golam Kuddus, president, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote and Manzar Chowdhury Sweet, general secretary of SSSG, spoke at the event. Professor Nigar Chowdhury, vice president of SSSG, presided over the programme. Later, the organisers distributed saplings among children.
