PITHA UTSHAB HELD IN THAKUGAON
The 7th Lokayan Pitha Utshab was held on Monday afternoon amidst festivity, at Lokayan Museum premises at Akcha village in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.
Dr. Kazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, a noted economist and also Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Bangladesh was chief guest at the programme while Deputy Commissioner of Thakurgaon Mukesh Chandra Biswas and deputy managing director of PKSF Dr. Md. Jasim Uddin were also present as special guests.
The festival included a vibrant cultural programme, featuring renditions of songs, and dances that captivated the audience.
The programme began with a dance by child artistes, and also featured various choral songs.
The programme ended with a choral song “Abar Jombe Mela, Bottola Hattola”. Guests and audience were also treated to delicious traditional pitha . They said such initiatives would help promote our heritage among the younger generation.
Dr. Muhammad Shahiduzzaman, executive director of ESDO and also Chairman of Lokayan Museum said the Lokayan museum was set up with a view to promote and preserve our traditions and heritage for forthcoming generations. He also pointed out that the museum has attracted people across the country.
Several stalls were set up at the museum premises to showcase the culinary delights including bhapa, dudh-chitoi, pakon, pantua, andosha, bhajapuli, prem puli and shemai pitha, among others. Enthusiastic visitors thronged the festival.
