Anarchists to be resisted
Rapid Action Battalion chief Benazir Ahmed yesterday said a certain quarter has waged an “undeclared war” against people which should be resisted by forging unity between them and the law enforcement agencies. The country has been passing through a time when innocent people are being killed in arson attacks for no reason. People want relief from this situation, he told a news briefing at Rab-7 headquarters in the port city.
Those who are creating anarchy across the country will be resisted, said the director general of Rab.
The highest importance has been given on the safety of Chittagong-Dhaka communications, mentioned Benazir.
Asked about the comment he had made in Mithapukur of Rangpur four days ago, he said, “We didn't say anything in favour or against any politician…. We talked against the killers, terrorists, terrorism and destructive activities.”
“How talking against the killers can be politics? It's our professional duty to ensure people's safety,” he added.
Speaking at a programme in Rangpur on Friday, Benazir said the next general election will be held as per schedule (in 2019) when people will exercise their voting rights.
