ACC sues Anee for amassing wealth illegally
The Anti-Corruption Commission today sued ex-BNP lawmaker Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee for amassing wealth without known sources of income and concealing information on it.
ACC Deputy Director Manzur Morshed lodged the case with Ramna Police Station stating that Anee accumulated over Tk 1.40 crore illegally.
The case statement also said that the lawmaker concealed information of over Tk 13.13 lakh in the wealth statement he had submitted to the anti-graft watchdog.
If found guilty, the accused could face up to seven years in prison.
The ACC issued notice to Anee on March 24 asking for his wealth statement and accordingly he submitted the statement next month.
According to the case statement, in the wealth statement, Anee did not show Tk 10 lakh he donated for naming a high school after his name in Laxmipur in 2004.
Besides, the BNP leader did not mention in his wealth statement the Tk 3.13 lakh which he spent on land registration purposes.
