9 burnt in Laxmipur, Gaibandha, Rajshahi petrol bomb attacks
At least nine people suffered burn injuries as alleged pickets hurled petrol bombs at vehicles in Laxmipur, Gaibandha and Rajshahi this evening.
In Laxmipur, at least three people were burnt when miscreants hurled several petrol bombs at a goods-laden pick-up van in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
Of the victims, the condition of the driver, Kamal Hossain, was stated to be critical. Two others were identified as Milon Hossain and Md Jewel.
The miscreants threw several petrol bombs at a pick-up van at Laxmipur Chowmohini road around 9:00pm, leaving three people injured, Shah Mizan Md Shafiur Rahman, Superintendent of Police, told our local correspondent.
The injured were rushed to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital where Dr Md Anwar described the condition of the driver to be critical.
In Gaibandha, a cattle-carrying truck bound for Sirajganj from Rangpur came under the attack in Palashbari Sadar upazila around 9:00pm, reports our local correspondent.
The suspected pickets charged three petrol bombs at the truck, leaving its driver, his helper and a cattle-trader injured, said Mojibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station.
In Rajshahi, three people suffered burns as alleged pickets threw petrol bombs at two tucks at Noadapara and Bhadra in the city.
Iftekhar Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, the miscreants hurled petrol bombs at a truck at Noadapara around 9:30pm, leaving the driver and his helper inured.
In another incident, a truck driver suffered burns as the vehicle was firebombed at Bhatra intersection around 9:00pm, the police officer told our Rajshahi correspondent.
