5 injured in Dhaka bomb blasts
Five people suffered splinter injuries in separate crude bomb explosions in Dhaka today amid hartal and blockade called by the BNP-led alliance.
In Dhanmondi, three people -- including two females -- were injured when alleged pickets hurled crude bombs at a CNG-run auto-rickshaw they were travelling in.
The injured – Mosharraf Hossain Mohon, Farida Sultana and Shaheen Akter – were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, police said.
The incident happened this evening while on their way back home in Dhanmondi after shopping.
At Dhaka University, alleged pickets blasted a crude bomb in front of Begum Rokeya Hall around 5:45pm, leaving a rickshaw-puller injured.
Shafi Alam was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Inspector Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH Police Camp.
The crude bomb went off when Alam was seating on his rickshaw near the hall gate, the police officer told The Daily Star.
Another rickshaw-puller was injured when four to five crude bombs exploded at Jatrabari Shaheed Farroque Sarani around 1:30pm.
Injured Jasimuddin was rushed to DMCH, Inspector Mozammel added.
