31 rescued while being trafficked to India
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has rescued 31 people, including women and children, while being trafficked to India through Jessore and Satkhira borders.
The BGB members last night picked up at least 22 people, including seven women and four children in Putkhali of Jessore, said Shamsur Rahman, company commander of BGB’s battalion-23.
They were being trafficked to India through the border, the BGB officer told our Jessore correspondent.
The traffickers, however, managed to flee sensing the presence of the BGB members, the official added.
The victims hail from different areas of Narail and Bagerhat districts, said Rahman adding that they were later handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
Meanwhile, nine people, including two women, were picked up from Bhomra border in Satkhira while being trafficked to India early today, said Maj Ahsan Habib, operation officer of BGB battalion-38.
