23 bombs recovered from Shibir-dominated CU hall
Police recovered 18 petrol and five crude bombs by raiding an Islami Chhatra Shibir-dominated dormitory at Chittagong University (CU) this afternoon.
The law enforcers launched the raid around 3:30pm and recovered the bombs and several explosive items including gun powder from Shaheed Abdur Rab Hall, police said.
Md Shahidullah, additional superintendent of police in Chittagong north zone, told our Chittagong correspondent that they have intensified raids at all the CU dormitories following recent incident of crude bomb hurling at some university teachers.
“We are carrying on the raids as Shibir leaders and activists are plotting to go for subversive activities to establish their absolute supremacy on the campus,” the police officer added.
In the hour-long drive, police recovered the bombs and other explosive items from at least 14 rooms belonging to the student wing activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, he said.
