2 SSC exams rescheduled for hartal
The government has rescheduled two examinations of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) scheduled for Sunday and Tuesday due to the 72-hour hartal called by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.
The English first paper examination scheduled to be held on Sunday has been rescheduled for February 13 (Friday) from 9:00am to 12noon, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said in a briefing at Chittagong Circuit House this afternoon.
On the other hand, English second paper examination scheduled for Tuesday will be held on February 14 (Saturday) 10:00am to 1:00pm, he added.
“We have decided to reschedule the examinations as the alliance has called the three-day hartal from Sunday despite our repeated call for not enforcing shutdown for the sake of the students,” he said.
The 20-party has called countrywide shutdown from 6:00am Sunday to 6:00am Wednesday, in protest at alleged killings, tortures and arrests of alliance activists and will be enforced alongside the indefinite blockade already in place.
SSC examinees appeared for two tests yesterday and today as the authorities were forced to reschedule the examinations due to the alliance’s five-day hartal that ended Thursday evening.
