2 gunned down in Jhenidah
Two persons were gunned down after they were picked up by miscreants identifying themselves as lawmen in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah in the wee hours of today.
The bodies of Abdul Hadi, 35, and Sohag Hossain, 35, of Boro Razapur village in Jessore Sadar, were found at a jute field, reports our Jhenaidah correspondent quoting police.
Sohag’s father Rakibuddin, a commander of Bangladesh Ansar, claimed that his son was picked up by Khajura Police Camp Sub-Inspector Masud and some officials of Detective Branch of police when he was sleeping in their house.
Contacted, Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kaliganj Police Station said criminals, introducing themselves as policemen, picked up four people including Hadi and Sohag from the village around 12midnight.
However, two of them -- Mohsin Ali, 24, and Opu Biswas – were freed in Satmile Bazar area of the upazila, the official said.
Later, locals found the bodies of Hadi and Sohag in the jute field beside Dhaka-Khulna highway, he added.
“No case was filed against my son,” Sohag’s father said.
