10 Biman staff sued over biggest gold haul at Dhaka airport
Fourteen people including 10 officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines were sued in connection with the smuggling of 124 kilogrammes of gold through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last year.
Customs intelligence filed the case with the Airport Police Station in the capital last night, one and a half years after the biggest haul of gold was seized, said Moinul Khan, director general of Customs Intelligence.
Customs officials at Shahjalal International Airport seized 1,064 gold bars weighing around 124 kilogrammes from the luggage chamber of a Biman flight on July 24 last year.
A six-member committee was formed to investigate the incident.
