1.20 lakh Yaba tablets seized in Teknaf
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 1.20 lakh of Yaba tablets from the Naf River in Teknaf uapzila of Cox’s Bazar early today.
However, none was detained over the incident that took place near the sluice gate No. 4 of Water Development Board in the upazila headquarters, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports.
A team of BGB challenged and seized a trawler in the river around 2:00am, said Commanding Officer of BGB battalion-42 Lieutenant Colonel Abujar Al Zahid.
As the smugglers sensed the presence of the border guards, three crews of the trawler jumped into the river and fled the scene, he added.
Later, the team searched the trawler and found the Yaba tablets worth Tk 3 crore, the BGB official said.
BGB received intelligence that a big shipment of Yaba will be smuggled into the country from Myanmar, the CO said.
