Messi’s hometown turns blue & white

Lionel Messi’s hometown Rosario has been painted in the Argentine national colours ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will start next week in Russia.

Residents of La Badaja in Rosario have coloured streets and buildings to show their heartiest support for their home team and special love for Messi by indicating his jersey number 10 on sidewalks, lampposts and on walls.

Argentina’s most recent World Cup triumph dates back to 1986, when the legendary Diego Maradona led his squad to the pinnacle of football beating West Germany 3-2 in the final.

Messi, who was born a year after that famous triumph, has constantly been compared with Maradona, and the Barcelona No. 10 will hope he can emulate Maradona 32 years later.
