Toma Mirza is a new face in the celluloid world. While two of her films have already been released, “O Amar Desher Mati”, in which she played a key character, was released in early June. Apart from singing, Toma is also an adroit dancer.
Recently she had a chit chat with The Daily Star about “O Amar Desher Mati” and myriad subjects:

TDS: Tell us about “O Amar Desher Mati”.
Toma Mirza: The movie is set in our country. Two major elements of the film are romance and music. Ononto Hira has directed the movie, in which I play the role of a Hindu girl and Amin Khan is my co-actor.

TDS: What feedback have you received about this film from those close to you?
Toma Mirza: I have requested my close ones to comment on my acting, and to give constructive criticism, so that I can learn from my mistakes and develop myself as an actress. I believe that criticism is a must for the development of anyone.

TDS: Which was your first movie?
Toma Mirza: “Bolo Na Tumi Amar” was the first. After that “Ekbar Bolo Bhalobashi” was released. Both the movies were well received by the audience.

TDS: Which are your other movies?
Toma Mirza: “Chotto Shongshar”, “Palabar Path Nei”, “Ek Mon Ek Pran”. And “O Amar Deshere Mati” is the most recent one.

TDS: Tell us about your current projects.
Toma Mirza: I am now shooting for Anwar Shiraji's “Bhabir Ador”. And I am done with F.I.Malik's “Shoubhagyo”, and Shafikul Islam Sohel's “Tomar Majhe Ami”. I have also signed contracts for a number of other movies for which I will start shooting soon.

TDS: Apart from acting, what else keeps you going?
Toma Mirza: I am doing LLB Honours at Manarat International University. I dream of becoming a lawyer in future.

TDS: Do you agree that the celluloid world is not at its best at present?
Toma Mirza: Yes I do. But everything that has a beginning, has an end too. As time goes by, things will change. But overall, I am quite happy and satisfied with my performances. And that is what keeps me going.
