[Watch] Shaon explains her concerns about ‘Doob’
Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s Irrfan Khan-starrer movie ‘Doob’ has come under fiery debate recently centering complaints of its being modelled upon the life of celebrated Bengali writer Humayun Ahmed.
Apart from Bollywood super star Irrfan Khan this joint venture movie also stars famous Bangladeshi actors like Tisha, Parno Mitra and Rokeya Prachi.
Scheduled to be released this April, ‘Doob’ was screened by the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) committee for reviewing scripts of joint venture films on February 12, 2017 and was given a no-objection certificate (NOC) on February 15.
However, Meher Afroz Shaon, wife of late Humayun Ahmed, issued an official letter to the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) explaining her concerns about the film on February 13. In her letter, she raised concerns about the film being made based on some incidents on Humayun Ahmed's life which could portray him in bad light and requested the censor board to review it for such instances and take action.
Taking her complaints under consideration, BFDC suspended its no-objection certificate (NOC) to the film on February 16, just a day after issuing it, upon request from Information Ministry to halt the release of the movie temporarily. As a result, the uncertainty has surfaced regarding the release of the movie.
As various news of the matter kept reaching her, Shaon has been deeply concerned about all this for some time. In this regard, she held a press conference to explain her concerns today at her Dhanmondi residence at 12:00pm.
