BNP candidate for Jhenidah-3 Motiur Rahman and his wife were arrested in Rayerbazar area of Dhaka early today on charge of carrying out subversive activities.
Motiur, also Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jhenidah district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami stands accused in 27 cases, our local correspondent reports quoting Milu Mia Biswas, assistant superintendent of Jhenidah police.
He was arrested along with his wife Nazma Rahman from their daughter’s residence in Rayerbazar area of Dhaka around 2:00am, the police official said.
But the police official did not specify the reason behind the arrest of Nazma.
Two laptops and seven mobile phones “used for carrying out the subversive activities” were recovered from Motiur’s possession.
