Eminent singer Nilufar Yasmin has been nominated for this year's Sidhubhai Smriti Padak and honorarium.

The medal and honorarium will be given to Nilufar Yasmin, who has been suffering from cancer, at a function at her house on January 18, said a press release.

The Sidhubhai Smriti Committee instituted the award in memory of late Mokhlesur Rahman Sidhubhai, a noted philanthropist and cultural personality.

The award has been given to an eminent cultural personality each year since 1989.

The committee will also arrange a weeklong "Sidhu mela" at Rangpur Town Hall premises from January 28. A discussion on the life of Sidhubhai, Bhawaiya song competition and cultural function will be held on the occasion, the release added.
