Unilever starts tree plantation programme

Unilever Bangladesh Limited yesterday kicked off its tree plantation programme with an aim to promote environmental care and raise environmental awareness.
The company is planting 10,000 trees this year that will be scaled to higher numbers in the coming years.
The initiative began at Taranagar union in Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital, says a press release.
Naushad Chowdhury, brands and development director of Unilever, inaugurated the programme while Unilever managers also participated by planting saplings.
For the successful execution of this plantation programme, Unilever partnered with Thengamara Mahila Sabuj Sangha (TMSS), a well-known NGO.
Under this project, campaigns will also be run in the locality to raise the level of environmental awareness and educate the community so that they may take ownership and reap benefit from the plantation.
Unilever has been organising tree plantation drives in their Kalurghat factory area on an annual basis.
