Mother, kid found dead near house

A woman and her four-year-old daughter were found dead in Birganj upazila yesterday.

 The victims are Sajena Begum, 23, wife of Obaidur Rahman and their daughter Tazreen Khatun in Sonka-Rajshahipara village.

Police said locals found the bodies floating in a pond near their house around 8:00am. On information, police recovered and sent the bodies to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.

Quoting locals, police said Obaidur and Sajena were locked in a quarrel on Friday night over a trifling matter.

However, Obaidur claimed his wife and daughter were in bed till 4:00am yesterday.

Belal Hossain, inspector (investigation) of Birganj Police Station, suspect that either the duo swallowed poison themselves or someone else poisoned them.

On October 1, police recovered three bodies of a family from Dinajpur district town. Police said Roni Sarker poisoned his wife and daughter to death and then hanged himself. 

Police are yet to make any headway in the investigation of this incident.
