Book on flowers and trees of Bangladesh published
Tarupallab, an organisation working for the conservation and maintenance of trees has published a book on flowers, trees, creepers and shrubs of Bangladesh at the National Museum in the capital’s Shahbagh.
The book written by nature writer and researcher Mokarram Hossen, was published at a programme arranged jointly by Tarupallab and Bangladesh National Museum, according to a press release issued yesterday.
One of the first of its kind, the book, a detailed field-guide of trees, is a milestone in the field, the release read.
Writer and Professor of Dhaka University Muntasir Mamun chaired the programme held at Poet Sufia Kamal auditorium at the museum. Chairman of National Museum’s Board of Trustees, artist Hashem Khan was chief guest of the event, the release added.
Dr Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmed, country representative of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Bangladesh, Dr Mohammad Jashim Uddin, professor of Botany at Dhaka University were present among others.
The book, priced at Tk 900, was jointly published by Tarupallab and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Bangladesh.
