Teenage girl ‘raped’ in Uttar Khan, 1 held

A ninth-grader has been allegedly raped after being lured in by job offers in Dhaka’s Uttar Khan.

Police have arrested one Shah Alam after the victim lodged a complaint with Uttar Khan Police Station, Sub-Inspector Mokbul Hossain told The Daily Star.

The victim, 14, is undergoing treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), he said.

Shah Alam allegedly lured the girl, from a poor family, with a job offer in a garment factory and took her to a house in Sujar Para and raped her there, the SI said.

According to the policeman, the arrestee has primarily admitted his crime.
