Run Savar tannery ETP full-time: HC
The central effluent treatment plant (ETP) of Savar tannery estate has to run 24 hours every day, the High Court ordered today in response to environmental concerns.
It asked BSCIC to monitor whether all four modules are operated full time and ensure that the tanners use separate pipes to discharge chromium.

The court also directed the tanners to install salt treatment module in the effluent plant.
The High Court bench of Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed and Justice Md Salim passed the order in against a petition filed by Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers’ Association (Bela).
The petitioners filed the petition fearing pollution of Dhaleshwari river.
