‘Robber’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with Mymensingh cops
An alleged robber was killed in what police claimed a gunfight in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh early today.
Deceased Ashrafuddin Dhol, 28, of Bhaga village in Trishal was detained from Kishoreganj around 9:00pm yesterday, our Mymensingh correspondent reports quoting Additional Superintendent of Mymensingh police (South) Mohammad Nur-E-Alam.
A team led by Imarat Hossain Gazi, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of Mymensingh police, along with Ashraful Dhol raided a den of robbers at Bhaga village in Trishal upazila but Dhol’s cohorts started firing at police personnel prompting them to retaliate, Nur-E-Alam said.
Ashraful suffered bullet injuries in the “gunfight” and was declared dead after being rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, the police official said.
Ashraful was an accused in 14 criminal cases filed with Gaforgaon Police Station in in Mymensingh.
Five of his associates were detained from the spot and brought to local DB office for questioning. They are: Mofizul Islam, 32, Al Mamun, 25, Humayun Kabir, 26, Mithun Das, 23, Manik Miah, 28.
