Rain likely to continue tomorrow

The entire country including capital Dhaka is likely to experience sporadic rains till tomorrow evening in effect of the depression that formed in the Bay.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department recorded 112mm rainfall in Dhaka in 12 hours from 6:00am to 6:00pm today.
Incessant rain in the capital as well as in Chittagong submerged many parts of the cities thanks to poor drainage system, causing acute sufferings to the dwellers and commuters.
According to a special bulletin of the met office, the depression over north west Bay and adjoining north east Bay moved northeastwards and now lies over Bhola and adjoining area as a land depression at 6:00am today. It is likely to move in a north-northeasterly direction further inland.
Under the influence of the land depression, deep convection is continuing and steep pressure gradient lies over north Bay. Gusty or squally weather will affect the maritime ports, north Bay and adjoining areas of Bangladesh.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No. three.
Under the influence of the depression, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Borguna, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirojpur, Jhalakathi, Bagherhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by wind driven surge of 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide.
All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
