Nor’wester: Slippery road halts Natore-Bogra highway for 11hrs

Road communication between northern and southern districts of the country was disrupted for 11 hours as mud from a brick kiln fell on Natore-Bogra highway during the last night’s storm.

Due to the nor'wester, mud from the nearby brick kiln fell on the road in Sherkol area of Singra upazila in Natore and turned the road slippery increasing risk of road accidents, Shariful Islam, in-charge of Jhalmalia police outpost, told our Natore correspondent.

As a result, all the vehicles from southern districts like Jessore, Kushtia, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Pirojpur and others heading towards Bogra, Rangpur, Gaibanda, Dinajpur were lying stranded on the road since around 4:00am creating a tailback on more than 20-kilometres stretch of the road, the police official added.

The workers of the brick kiln removed the mud and cleaned the road that restored the normal vehicular movement around 3:00pm, Sandip Kumar Sarkar, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), told our correspondent.
