Missing trader, housewife found dead in Mymensingh, Dinajpur

Two people, who went missing from Ishwarganj upazila of Mymensingh and Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur districts on Friday, were found dead yesterday.

Our Mymensingh correspondent reported that police recovered the body of a missing trader from Charpara village in Ishwarganj upazila in the morning.

The deceased was identified as Rafiqul Islam, 50, a scrap trader at Sohagi Bazar in the upazila.

Family sources quoting other shop owners, said Rafiqul closed his shop around 11:00pm on Friday night and left for home but didn't return home.

Locals spotted Rafiqul's body beside and canal at the village and informed the police, said Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Ishwarganj Police Station.

On information, police went to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, police yesterday detained Rafiqul's two neighbours--Mamun, 25, and Sujan, 27, for interrogation.

Away in Dinajpur, the body of a housewife was recovered from Karatoa River in Parbatipur upazila yesterday, 12 hours after she went missing.

The deceased is Rezina Begum, 50, wife of Abdul Jalil of Bagbar village in Badarganj upazila in Rangpur.

Local people found the body under a bridge on the river at Fulerhat village in the upazila around 7:00am and informed the police.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Rezina's family members said she left her parents' house at Atrai village in Parbatipur upazila around 5:00pm on Friday for Rangpur and went missing since then.

Mahmudul Alam, officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station, said they are trying to unearth the clue behind the murder.

No case was filed in this connection as of 5:00pm yesterday, the OC added.
