Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque today said the killers of Gaibandha Awami League lawmaker Manzurul Islam Liton have been identified.

Without specifying any further, he told Savar journalists that the investigation of the daring killing has progressed significantly, a local stringer reports.

“The investigation into the murder case has advanced further. The three persons who came on the motorcycle are under watch. They will be arrested soon,” he said.

The police chief was inaugurating the construction work of a multi-storied barrack and an arms depot of the Industrial Police at Kabirpur in Ashulia today.

Liton, the ruling party lawmaker from Gaibandha-1 constituency, was killed after unknown assailants opened fire on him inside his home in Sundarganj of Gaibandha on December 31.
