Dhaka-Sylhet trains back on after 9 hours
Rail communication between Sylhet and Dhaka was restored today, around nine hours after disruption due to a train derailment in Madhobpur upazila of Habiganj.
The train services were restored around 6:45pm as a salvage train removed the derailed train around 6:05pm, Harun-Ur-Rashid, chief mechanical engineer (railway east zone), told The Daily Star.
Earlier, the Dhaka bound Parabat Express derailed at Noapara railway station after a fire broke out at its two compartments around 10:00am, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent.
Some people sustained minor injuries while they were getting down from the train hurriedly.
A leak in the fuel tank caused the blaze, he added.
Soon after the fire broke out at the compartments, two units of the fire service rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
