Rangpur city polls schedule announced

The Election Commission yesterday announced the schedule for Rangpur City Corporation elections to be held on December 21.

According to the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is November 22.

The nomination papers will be scrutinised between November 25 and 26 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is December 3.

Rangpur Regional Election Officer Subhash Chandra Sarkar was made returning officer of the election, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda told reporters at a briefing at the EC office.

Electoral symbols will be allocated on December 4.

A total of 3,88,421 voters -- 1,96,659 males and 1,91,762 females -- are expected to cast their ballots.
