Now another DU teacher relieved on moral grounds

The psychology department of Dhaka University (DU) yesterday relieved a teacher for an indefinite period of all academic activities for his alleged moral degradation.

The department took the decision against the teacher, Prof Akib Ul Haque, at a meeting, department Chairperson Prof Nasreen Wadud told reporters after the meeting.

The department also removed the nameplate of Akib and asked the university authorities to take stern action against him.

"We have sent a condemnation letter to the VC and requested him to take immediate academic actions against him," Prof Nasreen further said.

Earlier, on Tuesday, educational and counselling psychology department relieved a female teacher of all academic activities on the same ground.

On last Saturday, university proctorial team found a female teacher of educational and counseling psychology department locked inside the office room of Prof Akib and rescued her.

Prof Akib's wife submitted a complaint to the VC and chairpersons of psychology, and educational and counseling psychology departments the next day, demanding punishment for the duo.

The two departments investigated the matter after getting the complaint and took action against the teachers as they were proven guilty.
