Judicial team starts probing headmaster humiliation incident
A judicial team from Dhaka yesterday launched a probe into the incident of public humiliation of a headmaster in Narayanganj on May 13 for his alleged derogatory comments on religion.
Aided by Chief Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Islam, a three-member team led by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Hafizur Rahman reached Narayanganj in the morning and questioned a student, said court sources.
Rifat, the class X student of Piyar Sattar Latif High School in Bandar area, brought the allegation against Shyamal Kanti Bhakta.
The team is conducting the two-day investigation following a High Court order that rejected an August 7 probe report of law enforcers which termed it “unexpected situation” arising from a rumour.
Shyamal was beaten up by a mob and made to do squats holding his ears in the presence of local Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Salim Osman.
