Illegal orgs, institutions in Gulshan to face drive
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will conduct a drive against unauthorised commercial institutions including restaurants, hospitals and educational institutions in the capital's Gulshan soon.
"Concerned institutions have been issued letters in this regard," DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Mesbahul Islam told BSS.
He said a decision was taken at a meeting of cabinet committee on law and order held at Secretariat in this regard to ensure foolproof security for the lone diplomatic enclave against the backdrop of the recent militant attacks.
"But the decision is yet to reach DNCC as an order. Steps would be taken after the order comes. But DNCC has started its activities in this regard," he said.
The cabinet in a meeting on April 4 took a decision to shift all sorts of illegal structures and commercial institutions in the city's residential area within six months.
If the institutions are not shifted within the period, their supply lines of gas, power and water will be cut off and trade license would be canceled, he said.
