Convicted criminal flees custody in capital
A convicted criminal escaped from custody when being taken to jail from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday.
Sohel, 40, who was serving a two-year imprisonment in a narcotics case filed with South Keraniganj police, escaped through the ventilator of a toilet at the hospital around 1:00pm, DMCH Police Outpost sources told The Daily Star.
He was admitted to DMCH on Monday with urinary infections and was under the supervision of jail guards Aziz and Nazrul, who were suspended for their negligence in duty, added the sources.
