Banned polythene bags seized

The Department of Environment (DoE) yesterday seized 1,600kgs of banned polythene bags below thickness of 55 micron at Pahartali in Chittagong city. 

The team first recovered 600 polythene bags from a warehouse named Sami Store in Pahartali Bazar while the rest were recovered from an abandoned place in the area, said Assistant Director Sangjucta Dasgupta of DoE, Chittagong Zone.    

The 600 polythene bags belonged to Md Golam Morshed of Golam Morshed & Brothers, Md Sultan of Ittadi Store, and Md Abul Kalam of Kalam Store. They were summoned to appear before the DoE office today, she added.
